Georgia Southern’s University Programming Board brought out an extremely funny and well-known comedian, Desi Banks.
Many students thought the news about Desi Banks was fake because Desi himself was not promoting on his social media pages that he was coming to Statesboro.
That rumor, however, did not matter because the show ended up selling out with so many people that the UPB had to turn some people away because the PAC reached maximum capacity.
The flyer for the comedy show said that doors were opening at 6:30 that night, however, I and hundreds of other students were at the Preforming Arts Center, standing in a packed line by 5:15 p.m.
Although the UPB could have done better with planning how they would handle the lines and letting people in, the comedy show itself was well worth the trials and tribulations I went through to get in.
Desi Banks and his host Alton Walker did amazing and wowed fully paced Preforming Arts Center.
Students like Khari Casurra appreciated, not only Desi’s skills as a comedian but also the fact the event gave African American students a chance to come together as a unit.
“I felt like it was a chance for African American students to get together at an event at a particular white institution where we don’t really have events that are mainly for African American people” said Casurra.
According to UPB member Jaquaylon Taylor, after having this event, they realized what they need to work on to make future events more organized.
Taylor also says that efforts are being made to bring out more people like Desi Banks, possibly even bigger names.
